Ascension Brewing Company

After making a road trip to Ann Arbor it was time to head north on M-23 make the right to go east on I-96 let it turn into I-696 and make a pit stop at my favorite tap room Michigan Beer Growler. After that it was time to go west again and just past I-96 and pay a visit to the crew of Ascension Brewing Company.

With this visit would be a late lunch and some flights of what I was hoping would be some good beer. I tried 8 beers and some and damn this place is hitting them out of the ballpark. The flavors in any beer title were known in the beers. Balance on point just pure crushing. My favorite had to be the Brut IPA Heavily Faded. Maybe it was because I did not get so much dryness that I have from Brut IPAs prior but this was my style. It was like a big kiss and just enjoying every sip like every second.

The view from the bar.

The Beers

There was only one beer I could not try the NoVI #2 was a bottle only but if you look at the photo above all of them were enjoyed. To rank them would just be stupid because they all were great but my pallet knows what it likes. Does that mean I could say review over go there and enjoy, ok maybe but I wont.

Flight 1

The team at Ascension was so in the flow taking care of customers all around. If it wasn’t the person that waited on you first I just saw pure team work as customers were taken care of. Kudos to Josh and the rest of the crew.

Flight 2

For IPA heads you can ‘t go wrong. Everyone of them that was on tap was either a solid base or just a good beer that you want to sip the day away to. Kolsch style beers have always been a favorite of mine, for when I need to relax and enjoy some goodness. Ooh Yeah Can Do is just that. I enjoyed the flavorfulness that hit just right with balance. Great way to introduce someone into craft beer.

Nachos

Pork Nacos

When consuming great beer one must have great food and the Pork Nachos did just that. Josh was on point with the water as well so I could keep the palate as clean as possible. I got the half order and it came out on a half pan that was hot the pulled pork was just great.

As I was writing this it came to mind I was at this brewery one year ago. I had just taken a solo vacation to the west side of Michigan after I completed my degree. Didn’t think this would happen but it did and man looking back knows I’ve made great steps forward.

Cheers,
